Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is to release Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea and the making of Ponyo, Pony Was Born This Way (Ponyo wa Koushite Umareta) on Blu-ray on December 8, 2009 in Japan. Both product will be available separately or part of a bundle, and the animated feature film will include English Subtitles with Dolby Digital 2.0. (more…)
Announced last week for Blu-ray are Gundam Unicorn OVA in Blu-ray in the Spring of 2010, and the new Mahoramatic anime, Mahoromatic Tokubetsuban Tadaima * Okaeri, coming in December 2009. Gundam Unicorn BD specifications are not set at the time of the announcement per Bandai Visual Japan.
Harmagendon - Genma Wars film and Five Star Stories are coming to Blu-ray in Japan on November 27. First pressing of the products will include “film mook book”. Other extras includes trailers, staff & cast profiles, and booklets. Genma Wars will come with a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 for its audio, and FSS will have linear PCM. No indication if it comes with English subtitles.

“Kanokon ~ Mannatsu no Daishanikusai” (Kanono ~ Great Mid-summer Carnival) will be split into two volumes. The Blu-ray and DVD will go on sale in Japan on November 25, and the second volume will hit the streets on December 22. Video extras and audio commentary are part of its bonus features.

FUNimation Entertainment has posted the Burst Angel Infinity Blu-ray trailer. According to the promotional video, it is completely remastered.
According to Oricon Research Ltd, K-ON! Volume 1 Blu-ray sold 33,000 copies during its first week of release (July 27 - August 2), thus making it the largest Blu-ray seller for an anime series yet. Rounding up the top five spots are (#2) Hgasih no Eden Vol. 1, (#3) Valkyrie (with Tom Cruise), (#4) Evangelion 1.11, and (#5) Gundam 00 Second Season Vol. 6.

Nogizawa Haruka no Himitsu (Nogizawa Haruka’s Secret) Season 1 on sale on September 26, 2009. The Blu-ray are recorder from its original HD master. Extras include non-credit OP & ED, Final episode non-credit ED, the opening to Dojikko Aki-chan.
