FUNimation Entertainment to rectify the problem by replacing the disc for customers who purchased Afro Samurai Resurrection Blu-ray disc that were affected by the audio issue.
From FUNimation Entertainment:
“We are aware of an audio problem affecting some units of the Afro Samurai: Resurrection Blu-ray™ release. While it was intended that the audio on this title be English Dolby TrueHD 5.1, it has come to our attention that the audio track on some of these units is a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. We wish to rectify this issue with any consumers who believe they may have purchased one of these units. If you have purchased Afro Samurai: Resurrection on Blu-Ray and believe this copy does not have the TrueHD audio track, please contact productconcerns@funimation.com to resolve the issue.”
Also, we were told that the discs are in the manufacturing stage and will soon be available.
FUNimaton Entertainment just informed us that the “banding effect” issues that was highly visible in the Blu-ray version of Samurai 7 was not due to compression, but it originated and inherited from the source material. We’ve also made an ademdum with the Samurai 7 Review in light of this information that was presented to us.
